Expanding to Combine Movement, Colour and Sound
January 2026
My work has always been moving in the direction of combining movement, colour and sound, but recently this has begun to take a more active and visible form.
What was previously more intuitive or internal is now starting to be expressed through concrete projects and collaborations. I’m increasingly interested in how these elements interact: how movement can influence visual form, how colour can carry emotional resonance, and how sound can deepen or shift the experience of a piece.
At the core of this approach is a somatic understanding of art. The creation, process and experience is not intended to be conceptual or interpreted through analysis, but led directly by and through the body — through sensation, vibration, and feeling. It is about creating conditions where something can be felt, rather than explained, created from our higher selves.
This means allowing the process to remain open and responsive. Instead of separating disciplines, I approach movement, colour and sound as interconnected — each one shaping and informing the others in real time.
This process is not about separating disciplines, but allowing them to merge. Rather than treating visual art, movement, and sound as distinct areas, I approach them as interconnected — each one shaping and responding to the others.
Recent developments include the early stages of an audiovisual collaboration, blending my painting and digital creations to specifically created music, as well as the formation of workshop-based work that incorporates a more embodied, process-led approach. These projects are allowing the direction I’ve been working towards for some time to take clearer shape.
This feels less like a change in direction and more like a continuation — one that is now becoming more tangible, shared, and open to others.
